Orthodox Christendom
Marks Epiphany January 19

Orthodox Christendom celebrates the Epiphany feast on January 19. The day before, all Orthodox Churches bless the water and distribute it among the believers. Catholicos Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II will conduct the ceremony at the Holy Trinity Cathedral Jan. 19. On this day, the blessed water acquires River Jordan’s good, while water is kept all along the year, and is not polluted unlike ordinary water. During the ordeals and ailments it is recommended to drink the water by the Orthodox Church. Devout Christians observe a fast on Epiphany’s eve.
