Caucasus Documentary Network >>>

The project aims to promote conciliation and inter-ethnic tolerance in the Caucasus Region through the production and distribution of documentary films;to facilitate cooperation of the people interested in documentary film making;to unite them into one organization and to improve their professional skills.
The geographical outreach of the project is the Caucasus Region, defined in the northern part as the seven ethnic republics in the Russian Federation (Adygeya, Karachayevo-Cherkessia, Kabardino-Balkaria, North Ossetia, Ingushetia, Chechnya, Daghestan) as well as Krasnodar Krai, Stavropol Krai and Rostov Region, and in the southern part as the three republics of Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan.Involvement of foreign organizations and Diasporas living outside the region is welcomed.
The financial involvement of West European public service broadcasters in the film production part of the project also aim at ensuring that some of the documentary films can be screened for a West European audience, thereby contributing to raising international awareness about ethnic and conflict issues in the Caucasus.
Besides, if the films are aired by leading global broadcasters and screened in major film festivals this can ensure recognition of the individual filmmakers and their organisations. Successful screenings will make it easier for Caucasian filmmakers to secure international funding for their next projects. Most internationally screened films about the region are made by Western Europeans. The cooperation with Western broadcasters and bodies of film funding can create a platform for future international commissioning of Caucasian films about the region.
The project aims to establish a net of the Caucasus documentary film makers which will be sustainable and continue to function outside the project. It is the ambition that the project can allow some 15-30 documentary film projects from all four countries to receive support for production.
In general, in the project there will be open discussion and exchange of styles of film and script production. The main aim is to find necessary technical strategies which will work for large audience all over the Caucasus Region.
