MUSIC: Nino Gvetadze. Georgian Pianist has got Birthday today. (myspace.com)

Nino Gvetadze was born in Tbilisi, Georgia in 14.10.1981. She got her first piano lessons from Veronika Tumanishvili at the Tbilisi Z.Paliashvili Music School in 1987. She completed this school successfully in 1998. In the same year, she began her studies at the Tbilisi State Conservatory with Prof. Nodar Gabunia and later with Prof. Nana Khubutia. Here she received her bachelor's diploma and obtained her master's degree in 2003. Nino then moved to the Netherlands, where she became a student of Paul Komen at the Hague Royal Conservatory, which she finished and got her Master’s degree in 2007. At present Nino is a student of Jan Wijn at the Amsterdam Conservatoire. From an early age Nino has participated in various concerts; she has played with orchestras since she was six years old. During her studies in Georgia, she won a grant from the Foundation for the Assistance of Young Musicians of Georgia, founded by Elisabeth Leonskaya. Later she received the Georgian president's scholarship and won a Diploma and two special prizes at the Second Tbilisi International Piano Competition. She performed various concerts with the Tbilisi Symphony Orchestra and played various recitals. In 2002, Nino was invited to participate in the "Rising Stars" Festival in Austria. She has taken master classes with Mikhail Voskressensky, Jan Wijn, Boris Berman, Domenique Merlet and Jacques Rouvier. Less than one year after coming to the Netherlands, Nino won the Young Pianist Foundation National Piano Competition in The Hague. She received First Prize, Grand Prize and the Special Prize for modern work. After the competition she toured the Netherlands, performing concerts in the most important concert halls in Holland. Her recordings were and are broadcasted by different channels of Dutch TV and Radio. She has played with such conductors as Michel Plasson, Otto Tausk, Eidvind Aadland, Jansug Kakhidze and Martin Andre, and with such orchestras as the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, The Hague Residence Orchestra, Limburg Symphony Orchestra and Holland Symfonia. In April 2007 Nino performed Ravel’s Ma Mère l'oye together with the well known French pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet. After this concert she was invited by Jean-Yves Thibaudet to participate in the Spoleto Festival in Italy. At present she performs in the important concert halls of the Netherlands, such as the Concertgebouw (large and small halls) in Amsterdam, the Vredenburg in Utrecht, the Doelen in Rotterdam and the Anton Philipszaal in The Hague. Nino's repertoire chamber music as well. She participates in various music festivals in Netherlands, Georgia, Germany, Italy and France.
