DOCUMENTARY: Unearthing Georgia . By Joey Close

This documentary is based around the 2016 season of the Gadachrili Gora Regional Archaeological Expedition Project known as G.R.A.P.E. It is here that professionals and students from both the University of Toronto and Tbilisi State University spent six weeks excavating the archaeological site of Gadachrili Gora in Marneuli, Georgia.

This unique archaeological site forms part of a trio of some of the earliest known Neolithic villages dating back to the 6 millennium BC of the Shulaveris-Shomu Culture. Archaeologists hope to not only further unravel the history of Gadachrili Gora and its inhabitants, but also to further understand if the origins of wine do in fact rest in the country of Georgia.
